You can configure the BIG-IP system or Enterprise Manager system to synchronize its clock with a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. You can use the Configuration utility to add NTP servers that are appropriate for your installation. To do so, perform one of the following procedures:

Configuring the BIG-IP 10.x through 11.x system or Enterprise Manager 3.x through 2.x system to use an NTP server

  1. Log in to the Configuration utility.
  2. Navigate to System > Configuration > Device.
  3. Click NTP.
  4. On the Properties screen, type the IP address of the NTP server in the Address field.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to add all desired NTP servers.
  7. Click Update.

Configuring the BIG-IP 9.x system or Enterprise Manager 1.x system to use an NTP server

  1. Log in to the Configuration utility.
  2. Navigate to System > General Properties > Device.
  3. Click NTP.
  4. On the Properties screen, type the IP address of the NTP server in the Address field.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to add all desired NTP servers.
  7. Click Update.

Note: You must also ensure that the BIG-IP routing table is configured appropriately to support the intended routing path for NTP traffic. For more information, refer to SOL3669: Overview of management interface routing (9.x - 10.x).
