Manual Chapter: TCP Profile Tuning
Manual Chapter
Table of Contents   |   << Previous Chapter

The data center to data center (DC-DC) replication use case typically uses a small number of data connections. Through ongoing testing, F5 Networks has collected data you may find useful for TCP tuning.
Table A-1 provides the TCP profile settings F5 Networks recommends for a typical WAN Optimization Module deployment on specified BIG-IP® platforms and at various link speeds. The recommended configuration provides the optimum single connection throughput for a given platform.
1.
On the Main tab of the navigation pane, expand Local Traffic, point to Profiles, then Protocol, and click TCP.
2.
Click the pre-defined profile, either wom-tcp-wan-optimized (WAN Profile) or wom-tcp-lan-optimized (LAN Profile).
3.
Modify the settings as indicated in Table A.1, following.
To change a setting, check the box in the Custom column, and type the new value.
4.
Click the Update button.
Note: For more information about modifying profiles, refer to the Configuration Guide for BIG-IP® Local Traffic ManagerTM. Alternatively, you can use the BIG-IP Traffic Management Shell (tmsh) command line tool, which is documented in the Traffic Management Shell (tmsh) Reference Guide.

For latency sensitive applications (SRDF/S), non-compressible data (JPG image replication), or small data sizes (SQL replication):
Disable compression, which means only the Null setting is enabled for Compression Settings on the associated iSession profile (see Customizing the iSession profile).
