Using the WebAccelerator 4500 Platform LCD and LEDs


Operating the LCD panel

The liquid crystal display (LCD) panel lets you control the WebAccelerator platform without attaching a serial or network cable. The LCD panel's Admin menu provides you access to the following options:

  • LCD Config
  • System Management
  • Reboot
  • Halt
  • Netboot

Table 3.1 summarizes the LCD menu options and their default values.

For specific information about how to perform the initial configuration of the WebAccelerator 4500 platform, refer to the WebAcceleratorTM 4500 Platform Quick Start Instructions. For further information, refer to the WebAcceleratorTM Administrator Guide.

Important

The default IP addresses for the WebAccelerator system, netmask, and the gateway are not applicable to the WebAccelerator version 5.1 and later. The WebAccelerator version 5.1 and later does not ship with default IP addresses.

Understanding LED behavior

This section describes the behavior of the LED indicators and the network interface card LEDs on the WebAccelerator 4500 platform.

LED indicators

There are three LED indicators on the faceplate of the WebAccelerator 4500 platform, as illustrated in Figure 3.1 .

Each LED indicator serves a specific function, as described in Table 3.2 .

Power
Reports the power status.
Green indicates that the power is on.
No light indicates that there is no power to the unit.

 

 

System status
Reports the state of the system.
Green indicates that the system is on.
No light indicates that the system is off.

 

 

Hard disk drives
Reports the status of the hard drives.
Blinking yellow indicates the drives are being accessed.
No light indicates that the drives are idle.

Network interface card port LEDs

The WebAccelerator 4500 platform has three network interface (NIC) ports that are labeled 1.1, 1.2, and MANAGEMENT. as illustrated in Figure 3.2 .

Each NIC port has two LEDs, one on either side of the port. Table 3.3 provides a description of the function and status of the NIC port LED indicators.

Green indicates that the link is active.
No light indicates that there is no link activity
Speed
Indicates the speed of the connection.
Amber equates to a gigabit.
Green equates to 100BaseT.
No light equates to 10BaseT.
