Features and enhancements in 2.0.6

ID Number Description
458311 SAML authentication can now be performed within Edge Client to establish a VPN connection
The BIG-IP® Edge Client® application for mobile devices provide the following SAML support:
  • SP-initiated access only (e.g. APM acting as the SP).
  • Web Logon mode only.
  • Single Logout (SLO) is supported only when the logout action is initiated from the client.
372674 Edge Client for Android now supports mobile devices with Intel Atom CPUs.
372686 Edge Client for Android now supports IPv6 networks.
382184 The Edge Client user interface has been translated into the following languages: German, French, Spanish, Chinese (traditional), Chinese (simplified), Japanese, and Korean.
436111 Edge Client now ensures that the FIPS 140-2 compatible mode of operation is used exclusively. FIPS 140-2 mode can be enabled to execute FIPS compliant ciphers and cryptographic algorithms. A user can enable this by a URL scheme or by selecting a check box on the client. In this mode, all SSL connections use encryption described by the FIPS 140-2 standard.
369001 Edge Client timeout for authentication has been extended to 120 seconds to accommodate external authentication methods that might take longer than the current allowed time of 50 seconds on Edge Client.
362193 Edge Client now shows more extensive information for SSL certificate errors for troubleshooting purposes.
385679 A user can now change a certificate name when importing a certificate to be used within Edge Client.
423947 Previously, Edge Client could only import certificates located in the root directory of an Android external storage or from the Downloads folder. Now, a user can import a client certificate by choosing a .p12 file located in any directory on the file system.
436820 When a user is in a KNOX application that requires a VPN connection, the device displays a message notifying the user if an input is required (such as a user name or password), instead of Edge Client interrupting the user by automatically displaying a prompt on the screen.

Fixes in 2.0.6

ID Number Description
477089 Previously, authentication could fail if a user was using certain external logon servers in Web Logon mode. This could occur if the external logon server used GET for form submission, or if HTTP internal redirects occurred. Web Logon mode now succeeds when using external logon servers.
473715 Previously, Edge Client incorrectly showed the total traffic statistics and throughput when a user enabled gzip compression in the Network Access resource. Edge Client would show the compressed traffic numbers instead of the pure uncompressed traffic numbers. Now, the amount of uncompressed traffic is shown in the traffic statistics. A user can use the compression rate to calculate the amount of compressed traffic.

Known issues in 2.0.6

ID Number Description
478962 On Android 4.4.x devices, apps are not able to access IPv6 destinations if the IPv6 network access lease pool is configured on a BIG-IP system.
479621 IPv6 addresses are not resolved when a VPN connection is established over a IPv4 tunnel on Android 4.3 devices. The issue is fixed on Android 4.4.x devices.
479481 On Android 4.3 devices, the DNS Default Domain Suffix parameter is not used. This issue is fixed on Android 4.4.x devices.
451826 When Edge Client uses split tunneling for traffic, after establishing a VPN connection, all DNS queries are sent to the VPN-configured enterprise DNS server.
