sol3122: Using the BIG-IP Configuration utility to add an NTP server

You can configure the BIG-IP system or Enterprise Manager system to synchronize its clock with a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. You can use the Configuration utility to add NTP servers that are appropriate for your installation. To do so, perform one of the following procedures:

Configuring the BIG-IP 10.x through 11.x system or Enterprise Manager 3.x through 2.x system to use an NTP server

  1. Log in to the BIG-IP Configuration utility.
  2. Click System.
  3. Click Configuration.
  4. Click Device.
  5. Click NTP.
  6. On the Properties screen, type the IP address of the NTP server in the Address field.
  7. Click Add.
  8. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 to add all desired NTP servers.
  9. Click Update.

Configuring the BIG-IP 9.x system or Enterprise Manager 1.x system to use an NTP server 

  1. Log in to the BIG-IP Configuration utility.
  2. Click System.
  3. Click General Properties.
  4. Click Device.
  5. Click NTP.
  6. On the Properties screen, type the IP address of the NTP server in the Address field.
  7. Click Add.
  8. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 to add all desired NTP servers.
  9. Click Update.

Note: You must also ensure that the BIG-IP routing table is configured appropriately to support the intended routing path for NTP traffic. For more information, refer to SOL3669: Overview of management interface routing.
